Hydraulic Can stripping production line

The aluminum can delacquering production line is a specialized system designed to remove paint, coatings, and inks from used beverage cans (UBCs) to prepare them for recycling into high-quality aluminum materials. This process is critical for achieving sustainable metal recovery and reducing raw material consumption in the aluminum industry.

Process Flow

  1. Pre-treatment & Sorting:
Cans are fed into the line via a conveyor system, where non-aluminum contaminants (e.g., steel rings, plastics) are removed using magnetic separators and air classifiers.

  2. Delacquering (Decoating):

    • Chemical Stripping: Cans undergo a high-temperature treatment (200–500°C) in a controlled atmosphere (e.g., oxygen-free furnace) to thermally decompose organic coatings.

    • Alternative Method: In some systems, alkaline or acidic chemical solutions are used to dissolve coatings, followed by mechanical abrasion (e.g., rotating drums with abrasive media).

  3. Cleaning & Rinsing:
Residual chemicals or ash from thermal delacquering are removed through multi-stage rinsing with water. Advanced systems incorporate closed-loop water recycling to minimize waste.

  4. Drying:
Cans pass through a drying oven or centrifugal dryer to eliminate moisture, ensuring optimal quality for subsequent smelting.

  5. Quality Control:
Automated sensors inspect cans for residual coatings; defective materials are redirected for reprocessing.
